RAGLAN 10/11 months old boy from the Show side of the Breed came into our care because his previous owner, despite having owned 2/3 Irish Setters in the years gone by, found that he was unable to cope with Raglan. Raglan is a very large and very strong boy who did not have the training he should have had when he was a small puppy. His behaviour now resembles that seen in 3/4 month old puppies, this puppy play and attention seeking behaviour coming from a large and strong dog now needs to be controlled.
Because he could not get the training he needs for rehomed in boarding Kennels, two of our Trustees are kindly fostering him and giving him some family life and hopefully he will learn to behave a little better until we find him that perfect home. Jo, who is fostering him, has told me that he is reasonably well behaved whilst walking on a lead. He is healthy, and handsome and given lots of loving care and the right training will eventually become a Setter to be proud of. Raglan loves lots of cuddle His needs are for very experienced Setter owners, who have owned and coped with young male Setters. A large and secure garden is needed to begin recall training, and people who are young enough, strong and energetic enough to look after and care for Raglan. No cats, no young children. A quiet household we feel would be better for him, he is easily excited and distracted and a calm atmosphere would be preferable for his training. He could possibly go to home with a K9 friend if they get on the the other one is already trained. Consistent and progressive training is essential for Raglan to continue to improve
